Unearned Runs Costly in Panthers' DH Loss

The Panthers booted another chance for a win on Tuesday, committing 10 errors over the course of a doubleheader loss at Jefferson Community College. The results drop TC3 to 3-15 and 1-5 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference.  Jefferson improves to 15-10 overall and 5-3 in the MSAC.

Game One: Jefferson 11, Tompkins Cortland 4

As has happened multiple times this season, the Panther held a lead with just a few outs left. This time TC3 was up 4-2 after five innings before Jefferson rallied with nine runs in the sixth.

Pitcher Elizabeth Martin ended up allowing all 11 runs, but only two were earned, thanks to the Panthers' poor fielding. At the plate, Peyton Swartwout and Brooklyn Seiger each had two hits.

Game Two: Jefferson 11, Tompkins Cortland 1  (five innings)

Unearned runs were again a problem in game two. Jefferson managed just one earned run off of pitcher Peyton Swartwout, but ten unearned runs proved to be the difference. Makayla Esau was the lone TC3 player with more than one hit, going 2-for-2 with a triple.

Looking ahead

The Panthers play at Genesee Community College on Thursday.
