Panthers Fall at Herkimer

Panthers softball took another tough loss on Tuesday, losing on a 10-9 walk-off in the opener of a doubleheader with Herkimer College. The Generals completed the sweep with a win in game two, dropping TC3 to 3-9 on the season. Herkimer is now 10-12 overall.

Game One: Herkimer 10, Tompkins Cortland 9

The Panthers rallied in the opener, coming back from down 6-0 after three innings to lead 7-6 after five innings. The Generals came back to lead 9-8 after six innings, but the Panthers pushed across a run in the top of the seventh to tie the score, setting the stage for a walk-off win in the bottom of the seventh.

Peyton Swartwout had two triples and Elizabeth Martin, Sophie Mayer, and Brooklynn Seiger each also had two hits in game one.

Game Two: Herkimer 7, Tompkins Cortland 1

The game was tied at 1-1 after one inning and remained knotted up until Herkimer scored twice in the fourth. The General put it away with four runs over the final two innings as the Panthers offense couldn't push across any more runs.

Martin had another strong game at the plate, going 3-for-4 and scoring the lone TC3 run. Matisyn Lord went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Looking ahead

The Panthers are back home to host Corning Community College on Thursday.
