A closing round of 74 boosted Patrick Tammariello into the top five of the NJCAA Region 3 tournament, earning him All-Region honors and a trip to the NJCAA National Championship Tournament. The sophomore became the first TC3 golfer to qualify for nationals since Dan Lapp won the national title in 2018.
Tammariello opened the two-day tournament with an 83 on Sunday, leaving him outside of the top ten, but followed that up with the sizzling 74. His day-two score of 74 tied for the best of the day and second best for the tournament, jumping him up eight spots on the leaderboard and into the national tournament with a two-day total of 157. He had the biggest move up of the tournament.
Teammate Kyle Travis also took a big step forward on Monday. He opened with a 98 before showing big improvement on day two by taking off eight strokes for a 90. His total of 188 was good for 29th place.
The regional tournament was held at Chautauqua Golf Course in Western New York, the same course that will host the national tournament June 2 -5.
