Despite a cold-shooting night for the whole team, the Panthers were able to hold on for a 76-71 win over Jefferson Community College on Wednesday. The team's second straight win evens their overall record at 5-5 while moving to 5-4 in regional games and 3-2 in Mid-State Athletic Conference. Jefferson falls to 3-9 overall and 1-5 in the MSAC.
As a team the Panthers shot just 29.4% from the floor and 15.8% from 3-point range in the first half while taking a 38-35 lead. The overall percentage improved in the second half, but the final numbers were still rough: 33.3% from the floor and 12.9% from 3-point range. Jefferson shot much better, making 48.2% from the floor, but the Panthers enjoyed a huge advantage on the boards and did a better job protecting the ball, resulting in TC3 taking 25 more shots than Jefferson. The end result was hard-fought win for the home team.
Jah-Mel Bruce had another big game, scoring 24 points and pulling down 17 rebounds. He added 5 assists and 4 steals while playing all 40 minutes. Reggie Roberson had the best shooting percentage for the Panthers, making 7-of-15 from the floor to score 20 points. Kashif Summers, Jr. had another double-double, finishing with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
