Good Offense Not Enough as Panthers Drop Pair

Despite some strong performances at the plate, the Panthers dropped a doubleheader at Jamestown Community College on Monday. TC3 drops to 4-29 overall and 1-20 in the West Division. Jamestown is 14-19 overall and 8-12 in the division.

Game One: Jamestown 18, Tompkins Cortland 5  (five innings)

Jamestown jumped ahead with three in the first inning and then put it away with back-to-back seven-run innings in the third and fourth. Jack Pilgrim was the shining star at the plate for the Panthers, going 3-for-3 with a double and three runs scored. Dominic Zona had two hits in three at bats and Ryan Barbeau and Logan Meerburg each had two RBI.

Game Two: Jamestown 11, Tompkins Cortland 6

The nightcap was back-and-forth early, with the Panthers scoring a run in the top of the first and three in the top of the second, and Jamestown matching in the bottom of each inning. After a scoreless third, TC3 went up 5-4 in the top of the fourth, but the Jayhawks took their first lead of the game with two runs in the bottom of the inning. The home team added some cushion with five in the bottom sixth.

Logan Meerburg had two doubles and two RBI and Parker Seeley had a triple among his two hits. Aiden Huften had two hits and Dominic Zona drove in two.

Looking ahead

It's a quick turnaround for both teams as the two are scheduled to square off again Tuesday in Dryden.
