A strong start in game one went to waste as the Panthers dropped a pair of games at Onondaga Community College on Wednesday. The losses leave TC3 with a record of 2-15 overall and 1-6 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Onondaga improves to 11-9 overall and 10-4 in the MSAC.

Game One: Onondaga 7, Tompkins Cortland 1

Starting pitcher Jose Ramos Jr. was strong out of the gate, allowing no hits over the first three innings. The TC3 offense couldn't break through, either, leaving the game scoreless heading into the bottom of the fourth. In the home half of the frame, Onondaga broke through with four runs -only one earned- to take the lead. Ramos was lifted in the fifth after allowing another run, and with the Panthers unable to answer, the Lazers went on to the 7-1 win.

Evan Shank was the only Panther to record a hit in the opener, as the team went a combined 1-for-23 at the plate.

Game Two: Onondaga 12, Tompkins Cortland 2  (five innings)

The offense started better in game two, scoring a run in the top of the first inning to hold the early lead. Onondaga responded quickly with four runs in the first and a 10-2 lead after three innings. Two more in the bottom of the fourth provided the final margin for the game to be stopped due to run-rule after the Panthers hit in the fifth inning.

Logan Meerburg paced the offense for the Panthers, collecting two of the team's six hits.

Looking ahead

The Panthers are back on the road Thursday, playing at SUNY Niagara.
